EVW's homes are rated 7.5 stars under the First Rate Energy Rating System.
The building envelope which includes the floor, walls, windows, ceiling and roof are very highly insulated with radiant heat barriers, multiple layers of high grade insulation, double glazed thermally broken windows and doors.
In contrast to a traditional home, which uses significant electricity and/or gas for heating and cooling , our sustainable homes & schools are carbon neutral in regard to the heating and cooling over a 12 month period. Even though our modular homes are very tightly sealed the heating and cooling system can still provide up to 100% fresh air to each room providing a healthy and productive environment for the occupants. During ideal conditions the building allows cross ventilation to naturally and efficiently cool or warm the living space.
Where possible our buildings use recycled or sustainable products such as decking that is made from recycled milk bottles and carpet which is made from discarded old carpet. We also produce renewable energy from the sun and/or wind which is fed directly into the building. The buildings can be designed to run entirely on this renewable energy by using low energy radio controlled lighting and a revolutionary new air conditioning system which uses only 10-20% of the electricity of normal air conditioning. The data, power and lighting systems are also future proofed by their reconfigurable design.
The undertaking of any project is accessed by Eco Villages with a holistic approach taking into account the energy performance of the final building, construction time frame, total budget constraints and aesthetic appeal.
